International Economic Film Days in Warsaw Documentaries and feature films allow a different approach to the economy. While discussing the films with local students, you also learn a lot about the host country.

The 12th edition of the “All about Economy Film Days” will take place in 1-4 Ocotber 2024. Students from Lucerne can participate in this event. 

Overview

Teaching economics can be more than formulas, calculations, and the homo economicus. Which documentaries help us understand current economic events and their backdrop? How well do feature films depict the reality of the economy? Which films manage to combine educational purposes, factual knowledge, and tension? And which films open options for the future development of our economy and society?

Block week (4 days) and preparatory meetings in Switzerland to prepare and distribute student assignments. 

Attention: 

-Your arrival must be no later than on 30.09.2024
- Your departure cannot be earlier than on 05.10.2024
- The program of the film festival is intensive and attendance throughout the festival is mandatory. If you want to get to know the host country even better, you should stay for more days privately.

Viewing two documentaries about the host country 
Written group work on documentaries about the specific topic of this film festival  
Final report about the impressions about the whole module 

During the festival: 
Films and accompanying lectures 
Group exercises and discussions with students of the host university 
An excursion will complete the event  

Learning aids

Viewing and evaluation of several films and writing a group paper.

Remarks

The students contribute of 90 CHF to the organization of the festival. They organize their travelling and bear the costs of meals and accommodation. Due to the price level in the host country, overall costs remain very low.
