Tourism: Live, Learn, Lead (Summer Course) Simulate running a tourism business and learn the practical and theoretical aspects of this interdisciplinary industry from tourism experts

Input from tourism experts, a tourism management simulation, and discussion rounds are integrated into a compact, two-week online block program. Two to three excursions in the afternoons are optional (physical).

Overview

The summer course is built around an integrative tourism simulation game. Experts from well-known Swiss destinations contribute their practical knowledge. 
The online program, which runs for ten mornings in June/July, offers a wide variety of presentations and interactive learning elements. 
The course is aimed at ambitious Bachelor's and Master's students at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and is enriched by international students from all over the world. 
After an introduction to tourism, students learn about tourism policy, art and tourism, digital trends in tourism, and strategic destination management, among other topics.

Eligibility to attend

Bachelor's and Master's students who have completed at least one semester

Entry requirements

At least 2 completed semesters  


Very good English skills (recommended level: IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL 79, FCE, CAE)

Specific expertise

Students understand the complexity of tourism, its dependencies on politics, history, and culture, as well as trends in sustainability and digitalization 
Students understand the interdependencies of various service providers in a destination and their impact on the financial situation 
Students can establish a connection between tourism and their own discipline
