Transdisciplinary Lecture Series for current social issues 2 The West and the Rest? Coloniality and the Arts

Eligibility to attend

All enrolled Bachelor's and Master's students as well as doctoral students of the three Lucerne universities are eligible to participate. (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, University of Lucerne and Lucerne University of Teacher Education).

If there are free places, employees and external participants are also admitted (subject to a fee).

Participation after receiving the diploma in the final year is excluded.

Specific expertise

The students will study the preconditions and strategies of decolonization, always with a view to the significance of colonialism in Switzerland, its richness and value framework. They engage in a dialog between art, science and society, in which they also take up the students' questions. The students have to practice critical lecture, active listening, preparing discussion statements and giving written commentary in a group work. Students are able to discuss and evaluate their statements in exchange with their peers and lecturers. They are able to integrate new findings into the ongoing research and work process (informal knowledge acquisition). They recognize and promote their own strengths and hone their own expertise.
